Lyon Neuroscience Research Center - logo

The CRNL

Imagine a giant laboratory where the brains of 450 passionate researchers are hard at work trying to understand how yours works. This place is the CRNL (Centre de Recherche en Neurosciences de Lyon). Their motto: “Establishing continuity from neuron to behavior”.

Alongside Inserm, CNRS and the University of Lyon, the CRNL has been a Babaoo partner since 2022. Driven by the same mission of making neuroscience discoveries accessible to as many people as possible, Babaoo and CRNL researchers work in an approach that Olivier Bertrand, Director of the CRNL, describes as “co-construction, co-design, active collaboration”.

How do we do this? By contributing to the design of the Babaoo Game, which we believe will make a small (and why not a large) contribution to education, remediation and the harmonious development of everyone!

Programme

ATOLE

In today’s educational landscape, the quest for concentration and Attention among learners has become a crucial concern. With this in mind, Jean-Philippe Lachaux has created the 1st attention training program, ATOLE (for ATentif à l’écOLE). Designed to meet the growing challenges of modern society, the program is aimed at pupils of all ages.

In 10 turnkey, fun and operational sequences, ATOLE provides teachers with practical tools to help their students learn to pay attention, and stands out for its commitment to bringing the science of Attention into the classroom.

PREDECC

PREDECC

The Programme d’Entraînement et de Développement des Compétences Cognitives (PREDECC) was developed by Pierre Paul Gagné, a specialist in Executive Functions.

Carefully designed and based on sound scientific principles, PREDECC is broken down into a number of methodological modules that explore the cognitive skills involved in the learning process of children and adolescents, in an approach that adapts to individual needs, offering a personalized experience in both teaching and cognitive remediation contexts.

INEMO

INEMO

Stimulating inhibition and socio-emotional skills in the classroom is a priority for preventing behavioral difficulties, and INEMO does it better than anyone! This initiative offers teachers and early childhood professionals playful, scientifically-validated tools to help children manage their emotions and deal with conflict. A mission that has been proving its worth since 2011! Behind the project: Alexandra Volckaert and Marine Houssa, PhDs in psychology. They work hand in hand to help kids strengthen their skills, while training professionals and parents in this fun and playful approach.

INEMO is much more than a scientific project. It’s an educational philosophy and a commitment to children’s well-being, where research and action come together to shape a more harmonious educational future.

Jean-Philippe Lachaux, Neuroscience Researcher

Jean-Philippe

In the effervescent world of neuroscience, there’s a brain that juggles synapses like others juggle flaming balls. A “First Dan” in Attention, Jean-Philippe Lachaux is a privileged referent in the world of research, and therefore at Babaoo! Director of neuroscience research at Inserm (CRNL), he has been a partner in the Babaoo adventure since its inception.

Driven by a contagious passion for brain imaging, he has an unrivalled talent for making the science of the Brain accessible to adults and youngsters alike… just like the ATOLE program he developed to work on ATTENTION at SCHOOL, which has won over thousands of teachers and pupils. In short, he’s living proof that exploring the Brain is as exciting an adventure as a treasure hunt inside ourselves!

Attention can be learned… and why not on a tablet? As you can see, Jean-Philippe Lachaux has high expectations of Babaoo! His motto? “Babaoo is to Attention what Minecraft® is to Lego®”.

Pierre Paul Gagné, Psychologist

Pierre

Welcome to the fascinating world of Pierre Paul Gagné, a Quebec psychologist and bold pioneer of a territory where few dare venture: that of mistakes!

A Babaoo partner since the first prototype was created in 2015, Pierre Paul Gagné is a fervent advocate of Oupsology, a pedagogy as guilt-free as it is effective, which, far from limiting itself to pointing out mistakes, transforms them into very real learning opportunities!

Pierre Paul Gagné, creator of the famous Réflecto® model, is committed to creating intervention models designed to develop children’s metacognitive skills. His aim: to help them understand what goes on in their heads when they have to think, make decisions and carry out actions. All fantastic tools for understanding how their brains work and taking power over their learning process! His motto: “You must first understand… in order to learn.
